Vintage 1951 Trifari Gem of India Rhinestone Choker Necklace Silver Tone Snake
This breathtaking 1951 Trifari "Gem of India" choker necklace is a true collector's piece, featuring a magnificent large faceted crystal pear-shaped centerstone cradled in sweeping silver-tone ribbon scrollwork accented with marquise, baguette, and round rhinestones. Designed by Alfred Philippe during Trifari's golden age, this necklace exemplifies the glamour and craftsmanship that made Trifari the most sought-after costume jewelry brand of the mid-century. The necklace measures approximately 14.5 inches in total length with a smooth snake chain and fold-over clasp. The central pendant portion measures approximately 2.5 inches wide by 2 inches in drop. Signed "Trifari Pat Pend" on the clasp. This necklace is in excellent vintage condition for its 70+ years of age. The rhodium plating retains strong luster with only minor wear. All rhinestones are present, intact, and display wonderful sparkle and clarity. The snake chain is supple and the fold-over clasp functions properly. A truly exceptional example of this coveted design.
